Geeky Album List Or Where I Reveal my Soul

Just reading at the Onion A.V. Club how they've been making lists of the favorite albums, picking one from each you've been alive. They can be albums you liked at the time, or ones that you like now.

Here's the original link

And my list.

While you're making this, prepare yourself for intense waves of nostalgia. Also, don't beat yourself up for not listening to cooler music when you were in junior high, you didn't know.

1983- The Police, Synchronicity

1984-The Pretenders, Learning to Crawl

1985-The Cars, Greatest Hits (seriously, this played at my house almost every day)

1986-Cyndi Lauper, True Colors

Note: This was the first album I ever bought. I distinctly remember picking it out at some music store in Jackson, MS. I found it again about a year ago at Grimey's. Sadly, Cyndi's cover of "What's Going On" doesn't hold up like it used to, but I still love it.

1987-U2, The Joshua Tree

1988-Leonard Cohen, I'm Your Man

1988 (honestly?)-New Kids on the Block, Hanging Tough

1989-The B-52s, Cosmic Thing (just because I still have a thing for "Love Shack")

1990-Angelo Badalamenti, Soundtrack from Twin Peaks (other than that, a terrible year for music, I'm glad I was only 7 at the time)

1991-Amy Grant, Heart In Motion (shameless)

1992-R.E.M.,Automatic for the People

1993-Counting Crows, August and Everything After

1994 (now)-Jeff Buckley, Grace

1994 (then)-Portishead, Dummy

1995-Smashing Pumpkins, Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

1996-Fiona Apple, Tidal

1997-Radiohead, O.K. Computer

1998-Neutral Milk Hotel, In the Aeroplane Over the Sea

1999-Bonnie "Prince" Billy, I See a Darkness

2000-New Pornographers, Mass Romantic

2001-Ryan Adams, Gold

2002-Bright Eyes, Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground

2003-The Postal Service, Give Up

2004-Modest Mouse, Good News for People Who Love Bad News

2005-The Hold Steady, Separation Sunday

2006-Neko Case, Fox Confessor Brings the Flood

2007-Feist, The Reminder (this was the hardest one to pick, I don't know why, I'm totally up in the air about this one)

i feel like i should wait for alll of 2008.
Even though it would probably be the new Hold Steady. But I don't want to have two of the same bands on my list. tuff decisions

That makes it too tough. My list is full of repeats; not my fault that the Hold Steady made the best record of the year twice.
